How Much Should You Spend on Furniture?

Good furniture can make everyday life noticeably more comfortable. But the right price depends on how often you’ll use the piece, how well it fits your home, and whether it can survive years of real life.

Measure everything before falling in love with a design. Check the room, doorways, stairs, and the route from the entrance to its final spot. A beautiful sofa isn’t much use if it can’t make it through the door.

Spending several working days on a mattress, desk, sofa, or chair may be reasonable when you use it daily and it solves a genuine comfort problem. For something that mostly fills an empty corner, the same price is harder to justify.

Look beyond colour and shape. Strong construction, durable materials, replaceable parts, removable covers, and a useful warranty can matter much more after a few years. If you expect to move soon, think about weight and size too. That enormous solid-wood table may feel less charming on moving day.

Remember the extra costs. Delivery, assembly, installation, old-furniture removal, protective covers, and accessories can push the final price well above the showroom tag.
